Program on Iqbal Day

KARACHI, Forum of Karachi Universities Senior Students (Focus) is organizing a special program at New
Port Institute of Communications and Economics on 9th November 2009 at 7:00pm on the occasion of Iqbal
Day.

The ceremony will be presided over by senior journalist, writer, scholar and critic Dr Muhammad Ali Siddiqui,
while Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh Sharmila Farooqui will be the chief guest. Brig Muzaffarul Hassan will
throw light on the personality of Allama Iqbal.

Celebrations of Iqbal Day on Monday, the 9th November, 2009

Government of Pakistan have decided to celebrate Iqbal Day falling on Monday, the 9th
November, 2009 in the following manner:-

i). General Public Holiday throughout Pakistan on 9th November, 2009 (Monday)

ii). Special Programme will be telecast and broadcast by the Radio Pakistan/TV Station on the life, ideas
and achievements fof Allamad Iqbal.

iii). Hoisting of the National Flag on Principal Government Buildings throughout the country.

iv). Scout rallies and March Past of School Children.

v). Mounting of ceremonial guard at the Mazar of Allama Iqbal.

vi). Special exhibition of books and relics of Allama Iqbal at Iqbal Museum, Lahore, National Museum,
Karachi and Iqbal Manzil, Sialkot.

vii). An exhibition relating to Iqbal’s painting/works at Aiwan Iqbal, Lahore.

viii). Screening of documentary films on Iqbal in Cinema Houses.

ix). Books exhibition on Iqbal by the Iqbal Academy, Lahore
My appearances on Iqbal Day - KHURRAM SHAFIQUE

I am making several appearances, electronic and live, this Iqbal Day (Monday, November 9, 2009) in
Pakistan. Here is the program:

8:30 am to 9:00 am: Breakfast with Dawn, on Dawn News Channel – live interview
10:00 am to 12:00 am: FM 105, Radio channel in Karachi – live interview
1:00 pm to 2:00 pm: Adamjee Institute, Karachi – lecture and presentation
7:00 pm: Arts Council, Karachi – Launching Ceremony of my book, Iqbal: Tashkeeli Daur, 1905-1913.
Ceremony will be presided over by Dr. Sahar Ansari and several distinguished speakers will include Dr.
Ahmad Safi, with whom many of you must already be familiar
7:00 pm: Aaj TV - special program on Iqbal Day, hosted by Rahat Kazmi. Other participants include Arshad
Mahmood and Zaid Hamid (it was recorded last Wednesday).
You are most welcome to come to the ceremony at Arts Council if you live in Karachi. Just send me an email
in advance, so that I may leave your passes at the entrance.

Iqbal, the first telefilm about the life of Allama Iqbal written by me, directed by Faisal Rehman and produced
by Iqbal Academy Pakistan, will also be aired that day from PTV at 11 am

Munib Iqbal Markazia majlis e Iqbal

Munib Iqbal Markazia majlis e Iqbal shall be holding function of Youme Iqbal (Iqbal day) on 9th November
2009 at 10 am at the Aiwan e Iqbal, Lahore. Dr Javid Iqbal, son of Allama Iqbal shall be presiding. Aitzaz
Ahsan, lawyer leader, shall be chief guest. Entry is open to all. All fans and admirers of Allama Iqbal are
requested to attend.

The National Museum of Pakistan has organised a special exhibition to mark the 132nd birth anniversary of
Allama Mohammad Iqbal, being observed on Monday. Allama Iqbal’s chair, umbrella, turban, books, letters,
photos and other belongings are on display.
